except now it's not possible to import the edited MIDI clip back into Maschine as all of the notes exported in 'drumkit' mode are for some weird reason set to midi channel 2, and while Maschine reads the actual NOTE VALUE instead of midi channel.

that exports the MIDI clip in a way that I can immediately hear the playback in the host and do detailed editing. so I can't hear the exported midi clip properly if I do it this way. Maschine drum groups are setup to react to notes. Now the stupid part: Using the midi channel range system does NOT allow the host to play back the sequence properly on Maschine for some weird reason. This should of course affect INPUT notes but it also affects midi export. This is done by changing the Group/INPUT tab method between 'none' or 'drumkit'. you can EXPORT with drag and drop 2 different ways, either so that each drum is on the same key (C4) but different midi channels (1 through 16) or so that they span the C4 to D#5 note range. However, the stupidity of Native Instruments rears it's ugly head again. Well, I did get it working now by going through Finder or the built in media browser in Reaper.
